Tips for dry winter skin

Between cold mornings, dry indoor heat and the stress of juggling everyone’s schedules, winter can be tough on your skin. Tightness, flakiness and sudden breakouts are all signs your skin barrier needs a little extra care — and a lot more moisture. Beyond the basics of drinking water, good sleep and keeping stress in check, try these winter skin tips:
Use a gentle, non-foaming cleanser morning and night. Swap foaming cleanser for something gentle and creamy. This helps protect your skin’s natural oils, which are lost in dry air. Follow with a hydrating serum (think hyaluronic acid or beta glucan) and a slightly richer moisturizer than you’d use in summer.
Focus on barrier health. If your regular products sting or burn, go easy on exfoliants and focus on calming, barrier-repairing products instead.
Add a humidifier if indoor air feels dry. Heating systems dry the air, and your skin feels it.
Don’t forget SPF! UV rays are still out there, even on cloudy days.
Keep it simple — your skin loves routine. When you take care of yourself, your skin shows it. Unsure of where to start? Schedule a free consultation with us.
