Good gut health through the holidays and beyond

The holidays are full of joy — and sometimes a little extra gut drama. The good news? A few simple habits can keep things moving smoothly.

Movement is one of the most powerful (and underrated!) tools for healthy digestion. A short walk after meals, light stretching or even dancing in the kitchen can help wake up your digestive system.

Holiday cocktails, coffee and travel can all lead to dehydration which can slow down your gut. Aim to drink water between your fun drinks, or swap out a cocktail for sparkling water or herbal tea.

Holiday meals can be delicious but look a little more beige than usual. Make sure to add in some color to your plate with fiber-rich foods like veggies, fruits or beans to help keep you regular.

Lastly, a simple belly massage can help stimulate digestion and ease bloating. Use light, circular motions around your belly, moving clockwise to follow the direction of your colon.
