How do you use holiday leftovers? Maybe your family loves Grandma Lilly’s Thanksgiving egg rolls or Uncle Brian’s savory bagel stuffing. Waste Wise Lane County is collecting your leftover recipes and sharing them as part of its Simplify the Holidays campaign, running from Nov. 27 to Jan. 1.

Share your recipes for a chance to win great prizes and help reduce food waste while saving money.

Americans throw away 20% of the food they buy. This is wasteful, harmful to the environment and costly in this time of rising food costs. Waste Wise Lane County believes the leftovers can be just as magical as the original meal.

Last year, leftover recipe contest winners enjoyed lots of great prizes, including: a bag of sustainable products from Main Street Market in Springfield; gift certificates to Oregon State University’s Master Food Preserver workshops; a $100 gift card to Lion & Owl restaurant; and a gift certificate to BRING.

This is the fourth year of the contest, and we expect to have similar fantastic prizes. Submit your recipe at wastewiselane.org/holiday by Jan. 1.
