Does anyone really need a Realtor anymore?

We can do almost everything on our phones these days — buy a car, book a vacation, order groceries. So when it comes to buying or selling a house, asking yourself if you really need a Realtor is a fair question.

We hear you, and we’re not going to pretend that hiring a Realtor is the only way to buy or sell a home in 2025. You can find listings on Zillow, go to open houses, and even list your home yourself and hope for the best.

But real estate is so much more than a simple transaction. It’s a science, but it’s also an art. With a whole lot of nuance…

Local market knowledge

Full-time Realtors always have a pulse on the market. And not just on the city as a whole, but on individual neighborhoods, streets and community pockets.

We’re in and out of homes every week. We’re talking to our local and national networks. We know what’s sitting and what’s getting snapped up right away. And we get to know WHY. This is the kind of intel that a Google search will never capture.

Negotiation skills

From crafting a strong contingent offer to navigating inspection repairs, this is where strategy and experience matter. A skilled Realtor isn’t just a messenger. We’re fierce advocates, savvy negotiators and buffers when emotions run high.

If it’s your first home, forever home, or a house you’re letting go of after years of making memories, real estate transactions can feel very personal. Having someone in your corner who gets the emotional side, protects your interests, and guides you to the finish line? It makes all the difference.

Transaction expertise

Real estate contracts are dense. They’re full of timelines, contingencies and about 1,000 moving parts. Your Realtor is there to ensure you’re protected and nothing falls through the cracks.

Buying or selling a home (especially in this market) can feel like a full-time job. You want someone on your team who knows the market, has your back in negotiations, and advocates for you in every way.

So yes, you can do it alone, but you don’t have to!
