Acne breakouts can feel overwhelming. The good news is that with the right care, you can calm flare-ups and support skin’s natural healing. Here are four tips to help guide your teen:
Keep it simple. A routine doesn’t need to be complicated. Use a gentle, acne-safe cleanser twice a day. Skip harsh scrubs and avoid adding too many products at once. Simplicity prevents irritation and helps keep skin balanced.
Cool it down. Because acne is inflammation, icing helps calm breakouts fast. Freeze small paper cups of water, then peel back the paper to expose the ice. Press gently on swollen areas for a minute or two to ease redness and puffiness. It’s quick, soothing and won’t cause extra irritation.
Hands off! Picking or squeezing only drives bacteria deeper and raises the chance of scarring. Trust the process, and give skin time to heal.
Protect the skin barrier. Even acne-prone skin needs hydration. Choose a lightweight, acne-safe moisturizer and use a mineral sunscreen every day. A strong barrier helps blemishes heal faster and reduces lingering marks.
With the right care, skin can bounce back quicker than you think. And if breakouts keep returning, an acne expert can guide you and your teen with a personalized plan — you don’t have to figure it out alone!
