In the past we provided free braces to individuals whose needs came to our attention. Last year we decided to be more purposeful in how those needs are met, which is how the Rey of Sunshine program began. We gave away 12 free orthodontic treatments to deserving individuals in the community last year, and we intend to do so each year going forward. We have been blessed by our community, and this is a great way we can give back.
How do I nominate someone?
We open nominations twice per year for this program. Think of your friend, family member, neighbor, kid from school — someone who could benefit from orthodontic care but just doesn’t have the means for it. How did we name the program?
Rey is Dr. Chvatal’s golden cream retriever dog, and she brings sunshine to everyone she meets. She’s kind, gentle and loves belly rubs from everyone, especially new patients in the office. When you see her, you can’t help but to smile — and maybe even laugh a little, too. So, we named this great program after her.
How can I help?
We offer adopt-a-Rey stuffed animals and merchandise with 100% of the profits supporting the Rey of Sunshine program. You can also help by sharing this information with anyone you know who might benefit from this program.
The benefits of straight teeth go beyond looks.
Straight teeth are easier to clean. Crooked teeth offer more places for plaque to hide, which can lead to cavities. When we align teeth, we address bite problems that can lead to uneven wear, especially for teeth grinders. Additionally, orthodontic care helps improve issues such as sleep apnea, TMJ pain, headaches and migraines.
