Peggy Elliott

My mom, Peggy Elliott, has faced numerous challenges in her life with courage and poise. As if mothering 7 children wasn't hard enough, my twin brothers were both diagnosed with high-functioning Autism at the age of 4. As overwhelming as that diagnosis was, my mom wasted no time in making sure the twins got the best help possible. Driving all over the Tri Cities for various therapies, hour after hour on the phone fighting with insurance companies, countless meetings with teachers and school district officials. And yet, all my mother's hard work has been worth it. The twins are now 13 years old and its amazing to see how far they've progressed.
This last December my dad's work contract was suddenly cancelled. My parents have never lived extravagantly, and Mom in particular has given up nice clothes and fun toys in favor of things for her 7 kids. Now, with my dad searching for a job and my sister getting married in April, Mom is yet again giving up her wants and wishes for someone else's. I know she doesn't see it that way; she'd say she doesn't need anything. But she DESERVES a little pampering, a little attention for all her hard work that has been overlooked in these last 25 years of motherhood.
