Over the past two years Julie and her husband Eric have adopted five children from an orphanage in Ethiopia. When added to the five children they already had, they have 10 children. They were featured in a Tri-City Herald article on January 2, 2011, and I was so impressed. They said the reason they've adopted these disadvantaged children is to give them a safe and healthy home, a real chance at life. Julie said, "Once you realize the need, it is hard to ignore it." The newspaper said the transition took love and patience, but everyone is doing well. It is difficult to measure the impact that any one person has on the world, but I'd have to say that Julie's is stunning and inspiring. She probably deserves more than a makeover, but I am happy to nominate her for one. Even though I don't know her at all and have no idea if she would enjoy it.
