Rosette necklaces

flower necklace

I love the projects posted on Hello Friend blog. Check out directions on how to make these gorgeous rosette necklaces. I love the bright colored fabrics as jewelry--a pop of color to brighten your day and your outfit.
What you'll need:
- A scrap of fabric 1" wide and at least 45" long (recommends linen and cottons)
- A scrap of felt to use as backing
- A hot glue gun (or fabric glue)
- A closed jump ring
- A finished chain

Wardrobe makeover tips

We are hard at work on the Makeover Issue of MOM Magazine - debuting early June. I can't wait for you to see the amazing makeovers of our Cover MOM winners. While working on the story, I stumbled on these great info videos from local NW designers:

  1. Building a wardrobe (Hood River Redesign)
  2. Simplifying your wardrobe
  3. Summer dresses 2011 (Garnish)
  4. Summer colors

And then I was so bad. I fell in love with the gorgeous orange dress in video #4 and went directly to the Garnish site. I ordered it in the brown top version, sight unseen. I never do that! I'll let you know how it goes when it arrives. Check out their designs - amazing!

MOM Makeover 2011

It was another exciting makeover! The votes have been tallied and our 2011 winner is...

Amy MacRostie

amy macrostie

Catherine Dorn had these thoughts on nominating Amy:

Amy MacRostie is such a great mom, and she's been going through the worst year of her life. Amy's six year old son Mason was diagnosed with cancer four days before his seventh birthday, and since that terrible morning in December, Amy's life has been about nothing but Mason's cancer, his treatment, doctor visits, back and forth to Doernbecher, chemo, medicine, side effects....she even put off surgury to repair a torn ligament in her hand at least twice because surgery would have interfered with her ability to care for Mason. Amy deserves some rest and rejuvination, even if it's just for one day. Amy loves her son, she loves her husband, and she deserves to love herself for just one day, too.

Congratulations, Amy! Stay tuned for updates on Amy's makeover, and look for her to appear on the cover of the June/July issue.

Scenes from Linda's makeover (1)

Check out what Linda has to say mid-makeover - she had a facial at Samaritan Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, followed by Qi Gong exercise class at Heartspring!

The makeover begins!

I know many of you have been wondering what is going on with our makeover winner Linda Blair and are looking forward to hearing about her experience, so I wanted to give you an update....

She kicked off her week of makeover treatments and services last night with a massage at Heartspring Wellness Center. Today she is enjoying a facial at Samaritan Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, followed by Qi Gong exercise class at Heartspring. Thursday she'll be getting her hair & makeup done at Epic Day Spa, and then will have a nutritional consultation at Heartspring next week. Photographer Karl Maasdam will be on scene to capture it all, and we'll be sharing his photographs with you in our June/July issue. I'll also be giving updates here on the blog, so check back!
