I am nominating myself because it is very obvious to anyone who sees me that I could use a major makeover! On January 5, 2011 my Husband, Bob Bateman was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Neuroendocrine Cancer. I am 29 years-old and my Husband is 37 years-old. We have two awesome children-Trenton who is six years-old and Lainie who is three years-old. This diagnosis has been life changing for us and will continue to change our lives each and everyday. Since the diagnosis at the beginning of the year lots has happened for my Husband. We were connected with a very knowledgable Surgeon who specializes in this type of cancer at OHSU in Portland. After many tests, scans and appointments both in Corvallis and Portland he had successful surgery on the 16th of February at OHSU. This surgery was very extensive and long.....he had half his pancreas removed, his gallbladder removed, his spleen removed, a portion of his stomach and 72 tumors on his liver removed. After three days in ICU and eights days in a recovery room he was discharged. During his stay at OHSU I was with him at the hospital and traveling back and forth to our home in Monroe to be with the kids. We are now at home and he is slowly recovering from his surgery. There have been many hurdles to jump along the way....and we have a lot of fight ahead of us. My Husband and I own and operate our own business-Bateman Forest Management Incorporated. We are a logging and excavation contracting company and work mostly for the BLM and Forest Service. His time off from work is tough-and trust me, you dont want me running the excavator!!! During the past two months I have had little to no time to myself as I am caring for my Husband and two kids, along with the business and house. It is very obvious that I could use THIS makeover. I need this makeover for myself. One day of pampering would feel great and refresh me for the tough times that are ahead. I am pretty sure my family and friends would appreciate it as well. My wet hair, sweatpants/sweatshirt, no make-up days are getting old. Life isn't fair and my Husband was dealt a terrible card. I have learned to cherish lifes simple pleasures and appreciate each and everyday! Make me over PLEASE!!!
