Have you read The truth about toning shoes in the Holiday issue of MOM Magazine? Lots of my friends have them, but I wasn't convinced they were worth the cost. Some people swear by their Sketchers and Fit Flops. Others have just cluttered their closet floor. If you don't know what a toning shoe is, check out this walking shoe review: Guide to toning shoes to see what the hype is all about.

Michael Gray, MSPT, COMT shared his opinion in the story below. Let us know - what do you think about toning shoes?

Toning shoes

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is a Civil War Win!

No matter if you are a Beaver or a Duck from down South tomorrow's Civil War game has huge implications.

Ducks are sitting pretty at the top of the BCS with a National Championship game on the line.  The Beavers are on the cusp of a post season bowl game.

At our house we are die hard BEAVER FANS!!!  We have a Beaver Parking sign in the driveway, Beaver Bank on the shelf, Beaver cups in the kitchen.  My husband has a Beaver rug and keyboard in his office.  I have black and orange fingernail polish (that my girls borrow a lot).  We all have BEAVER wear bulging out of our closets.  There isn't too much Beaver stuff we don't have.

My daughters had a school talent show and dressed in black and orange and sang and preformed a cheer routine to the "original" OSU Fight Song.  I think they can sing it in their sleep.

Needless to say....WE BLEED BLACK AND ORANGE!!!

Knowing how much is riding on this game for both teams we made a little visit to Santa last weekend.  In all of our Beaver Regalia we made a special pre-Christmas request:  A BEAVER CIVIL WAR WIN!!!

Although the jolly man in red did not guarantee anything he said he would see what he could do...I have great faith....YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!!!

We weren't able to secure tickets for the whole family so we are heading to my mom's to watch on the BIG screen t.v. but my husband got word today that he gets to spend tomorrow morning with ESPN Game Day!  (Lucky Dog)   I think that is a good sign that things are in our favor.

Talking about Civil War...I am sure many of you will be tailgating starting early in the morning if not tonight...Did you know that your local McDonald's will provide ice for your cooler?  I had no idea until I was talking with an employee the other day.  She had said if you need extra ice or just forgot you can bring your cooler in and they will help you out!

So, while you're there you can also pick up one of my favorite tailgating items....Chicken McNuggets...  yes you heard right.  My kids can be picky at times and I find that McNuggets are the same here as they are in California as they are in New York.  They even have a party pack of 50 McNuggets just for the occasion.  I will be heading there tomorrow before I watch the game.  Happy Kids mean more time for me to be couch coaching our team to VICTORY!!

So, watch the game tomorrow and cheer on your favorite team!  You know who I will be rooting for!  GO BEAVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holiday candy trains

One of my favorite holiday traditions is making Candy Trains. The kids love it - how could you not love bowls and bowls full of candy and frosting? You can keep it simple or get creative and make a how candy village. The directions were passed on by a friend, and I'm afraid I don't have any specific info on the origin other than "Home Arts Festival" to give proper credit - so if you know, let me know!
