Meet Andrea

I have 2 children. My son Dylan is 5 and my daughter Ellie is 3.

I have a part time work schedule that allows me to work 2-3 days per week. Days I stay home are filled with trips to library, swimming lessons, play dates and a little cooking and cleaning thrown in. I try to start each morning that I don't have to work with a workout and let the kids play at "Kids Klub" at Courtsports.

I am interested in activities we can do as a family, walking, art projects, watching movies. I enjoy vegetable gardening, and we just started raising chickens for eggs. I love to be outside with my kids. We like to take short trips to the beach or mountains. I love to read a great novel when the opportunity arises.

Setting Goals

What is your fitness goal?
I have a three-part goal, first is weight loss, second increased strength, and third stress reduction.

What is your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is making good food choices daily. I have a super sweet tooth. I also have a hard time pushing myself out of my comfort zone when exercising.

Why did you choose Courtsports?
There is a huge variety of fitness options: swimming, circuit training, cardio, basketball, racquetball and great child care. I also love the sauna and hot tub after a hard work out. The child care is key, my kids love it and wake me up telling me they are ready to go to "Kids Club" each morning.

Ready to get fit

What kind of foods are going to eat for the nutrition part of your program?
The types of food that I am focusing on are whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, vegetarian proteins, low fat dairy products, and unsaturated fats.  Small portions and 4-5 smalls meals per day.  Lots of water. Low sodium and low sugar.  Mostly non-processed foods, the goal my trainer has suggested is "nothing out of a box."

How will you incorporate your diet into the family meals?
We will generally eat the same things.  I will prepare the food for all of us and  have a simple back up option if the kids try it and don't like it.  They can always choose a bowl of cereal.

Where will you shop for the food?
I will continue to shop at Costco, Fred Meyer, local farmers markets and someday soon my own garden.

How do you feel about starting?
I am very excited about starting.  I feel motivated to make great choices daily!  I am worried we will go back to the drive thru at Taco Bell habit when life gets too crazy.  My confidence level is pretty high now and I am focused on daily discipline and small choices leading to big results!
