Fall Basketball Registration Open

YMCA Youth Basketball is a progressive program, with age-appropriate grouping for kids. Unlike the traditional progression from drills to game play, the YMCA's "games approach" keeps younger players interested and focused from start to finish.

The 7-week season runs from October 29th through December 17th with no games Thanksgiving weekend. Specific times and locations will be available at registration. Generally, games and practices are held in the evenings. Teams practice once a week and play one game a week. Kids 3 to 4 years old participate in a pre-competitive developmental program to learn games fundamentals and have fun through modified game activities. Ages 5 to 10 participate in a values-based program that combines modified and regular game play with drills to give participants a solid understanding of the game as well as build self confidence and teamwork skills.

Pajama Drive Underway

The national non-profit Pajama Program is issuing a Call To Action to the nation's children and their families to hold Pajama Drives, Parties and Fundraising Events to help reach a goal of serving 500,000 children in need by year-end. October 1st marks the "danger season" and denotes the time of year when the temperatures drop and children are in dire need of comfort and love. Also on October 1st, the first-ever "Bowl-A-Rama" will take place in bowling alleys nationwide for families and friends to collect PJs and new books and/or funds to help children at risk in the cold, winter months.
