Thank you for the opportunity to ask these types of questions...

I heard from a friend that credit card companies are cutting people off BEFORE they reach their credit limit. Is this true? It doesn't sound right!!!

I have never heard about any of this, any information regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated!! I have never had any issues like this, or any that I know of? The question about the credit score concerns me, has it changed since the drop, have they dropped the scores so your credit looks better than it really is?

How long after a foreclosure or short sale does it take to get credit back to where a person can buy a house again?

I guess I don't think enough about this. Is the economy already affecting what is an acceptable credit score?

    I have a non-credit score money/mom related question:

As a mom, one of the biggest struggles I have is finding a balance between providing my kids with the things I didn't have growing up & not having them feel entitled to everything (not that my kids are completely spoiled, but I think most kids have too much "stuff" these days). I had ONE 'My Little Pony' when I was growing up - and how I LOVED and TREASURED that thing. My daughter at age 3 has at least 5 already (including the one that was mine). How do I teach my kids that My Little Ponies don't grow on trees? I want my children to value and appreciate what they have and the money that is needed to buy the things they want.

My question is related to credit cards and interest rates. I made a late payment once on a credit card I've since 1986. They promptly raisedd my 12.9% interest rate to 28.8%. Is there anyway I can talk them into lowering back down? I haven't missed a payment and haven't had a late payment since. It's crazy! I would close that card but I have a very high balance on it right now due to opening a new store here in town and I'm trying to pay it off but with the interest rate so high I'm not sure I'm making much headway. Any ideas or solutions would be appreciated. thanks!

Great questions moms! Thanks for participating. As busy moms, we often don't get the opportunity to ask important questions about finance. We just sit down and pay the bills between nap time and little league, then move on to the next big project. Now's your chance to ask the expert.

I've heard of people having their credit cards limit reduced below what their current balance is. (IE - you owe $7000 of a limit of $8000, and then the limit gets dropped to $6000). Then they start charging over the limit fees. Are they even allowed to do this, and how common is it?

Thanks for providing a forum to ask financial questions- great idea! My concerns the trends in the economy- is it a good time to change investment strategies or is it better to wait for the economy to recover further?

Which lending institutions have the lowest auto loan rates? We want to lower our interest rate on our 2009, so I think we would still qualify for a new car rate. Thanks!
